The Manteca Police Department is investigating a serious injury collision involving a van and motorcycle that occurred Thursday morning in the intersection of North Main Street an Edison Street.

According to the department’s Major Accident Investigation Team, the initial collision consisted of the van colliding with an SUV on East Edison Street, which was followed by the motorcycle ride and passenger being ejected and transported to an area hospital for serious injuries – both riders were wearing helmets and were conscious on-scene, police noted.

The driver and passenger of the van were also taken to an area hospital for complaints of pain while the driver of the SUV complained of pan but didn’t hospital treatment.

Investigators said that the van was traveling southbound on North Main Street at about 11:31 a.m., with the driver making a left turn at the intersection of Main and Edison streets. Meanwhile, the motorcycle was northbound on Main Street and collided with the van.

Police said that impact caused the van to collide into an SUV that was at the westbound stop sign of East Edison Street and Main Street.

The investigation is ongoing with more details to come.

“It is known that the van was driven by a male in his 50s with a female passenger in her 50s. The ages of the male motorcycle rider and the female passenger are not known currently. The age of the male driving SUV is not known currently – he had complained of pain to his head,” police said on Friday.

The department is requesting witnesses who were not interviewed at the scene to call MPD at 209.456.8101 to provide a statement for case number 25-04987.
