Full police staffing for No Kings

protest Saturday in Manteca

Manteca Police Chief Stephen Schluer indicated the department will have full staffing on Saturday, March 28, during the No Kings protest from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Schuler said based on the two previous No Kings protests in Manteca and efforts organizers have been making to keep participants safe by having monitors to keep them from stepping into traffic  to volunteers distributing free water to avoid heat-related issues, he isn’t expecting any problems.

The police chief said organizers have been keeping the department apprised of the steps they are taking to assure public safety.

The protest is taking place near the intersection of Yosemite Avenue and Spreckels Avenue.

John Hawk of Manteca Indivisible has indicated one corner will be reserved for possible counter protestors.

Hawk said organizers are expecting up to 2,000 participants.
