The interactive water play feature at the Mistlin Sports Park could be back in operation within the next two weeks.
That’s estimated time tables on completion of the currently “Closed for Repair” – such signs are posted in the section of the park at the corner of River Road and Mistlin Sports Parkway – water play area.
The Ripon City Council on Tuesday approved the contract with Grossi Electric Inc. of Escalon, calling for replacing the electrical components that, according Public Works Director James Pease in his staff report, was “damaged beyond repair.”
The contract was for $21,503 – paid via the Parks General Capital Fund – with work scheduled to begin almost immediately.
No discussion by elected leaders was necessary on bringing aboard Grossi Electric Inc.
The Interactive Fountain was a gift to the City of Ripon by local businessman and philanthropist Tony Mistlin. Construction was completed in 2003.
Damages were to the electrical / control components that operate the various pumps for the interactive fountain.
The contract with Grossi Electric Inc. calls for removing, replacing, and testing the electrical and control components in order to begin operating the interactive fountain.
