The Manteca Police Department is currently investigating a shooting that occurred on the 800 block of Mono Way Monday and claimed the life of one man.

According to Manteca Police Department Spokesman Ian Osborn, officers were dispatched to the 800 block of Mono Way – located on the south end of the Woodward Park subdivision – Monday afternoon and discovered an adult male suffering an undisclosed number of gunshot wounds.

Officers rendered aid until EMS arrived, Despite advanced lifesaving measures the man ultimately succumbed to his injuries and pronounced deceased at the scene.

The name of the deceased and any information about potential suspects are not currently being released by authorities as detectives are actively working the case to try and find those responsible for the death.

According to Osborn, the victim was reportedly standing with multiple other people at the time of the shooting and officers are working to determine if those other individuals are also potential victims, suspects in the shooting, or witnesses to what transpired.

Because of the heavy law enforcement presence in the area – the shooting occurred on a relatively idyllic subdivision street – the Manteca Police sent out a Nixle notification Monday afternoon asking the public to avoid the area while the investigation is ongoing.

The homicide is Manteca’s third of the year.

The first was an incident on Primavera Avenue in February that resulted in the death of one person.

The second was a murder on Davis Street in April that orphaned two young children. The husband, who was the suspect inn that’s shooting, committed suicide in Merced County afterwards.
