The Lathrop Landing Community Park next door to the Lathrop Police Department is nearly completed.

Lathrop Landing Community Park is “substantially” complete.

By that, the City of Lathrop officials recently noted that only two remaining items are what’s needed to complete the park adjacent to the police department in River Islands – namely, the installation of the monument sign (currently being manufactured), and some staff-recommended safety enhancements.

This is all part of the Lathrop Landing Community Park Improvements, listed under the conditions from the River Islands Construction, LLC, located within the Town Center District of River Islands.

At the Dec. 8 monthly session, the Lathrop City Council accepted the completed public improvements in the GASB-34 Report – an accounting rule for state and local governments on reporting finances – and accept the remaining improvements to the city park based on staff verification.

River Islands submitted unconditional lien releases for the completed improvements and a one-year bond for the improvements proposed for acceptance.

The aforementioned safety enhancements will include some additional fencing near the basketball courts, housekeeping pads for all utility structures, and stabilizing the decomposed granite so that the material cannot be removed.

Cost for these improvements along with the monument sign was about $6.6 million, as presented in the GASB-34 Report.

The River Islands Public Financing Authority will handle the maintenance of the park at no additional cost to the city as part of an existing maintenance agreement.

The one-year warranty bond provided by River Islands – at $712,820 – will cover any repairs or replacements due to any defective materials or workmanship during that initial period.

In addition, the City’s Service Maintenance CFD has since been established to fund the maintenance and operating costs of the adjacent streets.
