The once a week fall / winter watering-day schedule for the City of Ripon concludes at the end of this month.
According to the Water Conservation Ordinance, all properties within the city with an even-numbered address during this time are allowed to water their landscape on Saturdays.
Properties with odd-numbered addresses can only do so on Sundays.
No watering will be allowed between 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. or 48 hours following measurable rainfall.
Public Works Director James Pease, meanwhile, provided the water conservation figures during the past two months at Tuesday’s Ripon City Council meeting.
For December, residents cut down on their usage by 12 percent, using 2013 pre-drought water levels as the baseline. Usage among folks when compared to December 2023 was up by 4 percent.
Water usage was up 9 percent last month compared to that of 2013, and up 20 percent from January 2024.
Pease added that water conservation officials issued 180 contacts during the past two months. Of that, three were in violation, resulting in penalties.
