The opening of the Terraces at Bethany was a big moment this past year in Ripon.
“We are celebrating an idea that started on paper in 2015 to a physical building in 2025,” said Bethany Home Executive Director Cindy Scheublein at the ribbon-cutting ceremony held in recent weeks.
She mentioned the brainstorming sessions and the various challenges (included was the COVID-19 pandemic) during the past decade, leading to the construction of the three-story building with 82 apartments that are licensed as a Residential Care Facility for the elderly.
Ground-breaking took place on 104,000-square-foot project featuring plenty of amenities some two years earlier.
The Terraces at Bethany was finally completed in recent months, highlighting a big moment locally in 2025.
Looking ahead to the upcoming year and beyond, the City of Ripon listed several development projects (based on the November status report), including:
Arc Way
This commercial center consisting of gas station / convenience store and a retail building shopping center located at 769 Frontage Road was approved earlier this year (plans have not yet been submitted as the project is currently on hold).
The project is planned on a 1.6-acre parcel and calls for the construction of two buildings (one at 5,198-sqaure-foot Circle K, and the other 4,320-square-foot for possibly a restaurant of professional space) and six fueling dispenser with an associated canopy.
Tennis Courts
The renovations at the Ripon Community Center’s tennis courts were completed not too long ago. Included were resurfacing of the courts along with new nets and accommodations for pickleball.
The Ripon Christian Tennis Courts project is currently underway. Once completed, the RC facility will feature six new courts along with 69 stalls for parking and a courtyard.
The Mistlin Sports Park Tennis Courts consisting of 12 new tennis courts at 1210 E. Clinton South Ave. was also approved with no submitted plans as of yet.
Hotels
Two new hotel projects east of Highway 99 were approved in recent years.
The Townplace Suites by Marriott Hotel calls for the construction of a four-story, 54,382-square-foot building at 333 E. Main St. The permit was issued and applicant is planning to break ground soon.
The Avid Candlewood Suites at 1499 Jack Tone Rd. is a four-story, 107-room hotel near the Flying-J travel plaza. Entitlements have lapsed as the applicant is seeking re-approval, according to the City of Ripon.
The Blue Lite Expansion at 258 Frontage Rd. consists of converting an old convenience store into hotel rooms. While still under construction, the project has stalled out of the property owner is trying to save money to install the last of the required improvements, the city said.
Residentials
The Meadowood Subdivision at 980. 1050, and 1001 Warren Rd. is nearing completion of improvements. This 88-lot residential subdivision will commence soon on construction of the model homes.
Pereira Subdivision at 22874 and 22898 N. Ripon Rd. is a 48-lot residential subdivision assigned to JKB Living Inc. with work most likely starting in 2026.
The Cottages at Pine & Acacia (building plan check is completed) is awaiting approval from the City of Ripon Engineering Department.
