Pedestrian hit by vehicle along Airport Way dies

The Manteca Police Department is currently investigating a fatal collision involving a pedestrian that occurred along Airport Way on Saturday night.

According to the agency, officers were dispatched to North Airport Way just north of West Lathrop Road shortly before 8 p.m. on March 26 to a report of a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. When officers arrived on scene, they located a pedestrian that had suffered extensive injuries, and EMS personnel arrived shortly thereafter and declared the subject deceased.

The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and was cooperative with investigators that included the agency’s Major Accident Investigation Team. Neither drugs nor alcohol are believed to be a factor in the incident.

The identity of the deceased pedestrian is currently being withheld pending notification of the next of kin. Aside from the fact that the deceased is identified as being male, no further information is being released at this time.
