Pizza, ice cream & hot dogs served to snag mayor votes
larson flag
Lei Ann Larson decked out in an American flag dress campaigning for mayor Monday at the intersection fo Mission Ridge Drive and South Main Street.

Apparently the way to win over a Manteca voter is through their stomach.

That’s based on the flurry of meet and greets the three candidates for mayor are rolling out.

First it was Gary Singh with ice cream at Baskin Robbins on Aug. 21.

Then Lei Ann  Larson announced her All American BBQ with hot dogs and chips this Saturday.

Now its Ben Canty with pizza.

On Wednesday, Sept. 14, Mayor Cantu is hosting a Pizza Meet & Greet as part of his campaign for mayor.

The event will be held at Papa Nino's, 1231 E. Louise Avenue in Manteca, from 6 to 8 p.m.

The event is free to attend, and folks are welcome to come chat with the mayor about any questions or concerns, and also hear about the mayor’s vision for the next four years. For any questions about the event, contact Cantu at info@cantu4mayor.com or visit his campaign website at http://www.cantu4mayor.com.

Larson is staging an All American BBQ in the Park on Saturday, Sept. 10, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.  at Library Park.

Hot dogs and chips will be provided to those that come out and meet Larson.

She plans to share her “seven point agenda for making Manteca a great place to live, work and play.”

Another first in mayor’s

race for Lei Ann Larson

Lei Ann Larson, the first Manteca  mayoral candidate to rely on GoFundMe for the bulk of her campaign contributions, recorded another first on Labor Day.

She was decked out in an American flag dress while holding a pair of American flags and a Larson for mayor sign on the southwest corner of Main Street and Mission Ridge Drive.

A photo of her campaigning was posted on NextDoor.

Larson’s GoFundMe account was at $1,500 as of Tuesday. She has a goal of $50,000.

Morowit endorsed by

police and firefighters

The Manteca Police Association and the Manteca Firefighters Local 1874 have endorsed Mike Morowit in his bid to seek election of the District 4 City Council seat.

The two frontline public safety unions also have endorsed Gary Singh for mayor.

District 4 is the area north of Louise Avenue except east of Highway 99.

Voting for the seat is only within the district boundaries while voting for mayor is citywide.

This is the first election that council seats are by districts in Manteca.
