Participants in this Saturday’s No Kings protest in Manteca are conducting a poster party this evening.

It is all a part of the organizers’ goal to lure upwards of 2,000 people to the intersection of Spreckels and Yosemite avenues on Saturday, March 28, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

If such a crowd materializes, it will set an all-time record for any type of protest gathering in Manteca.

The first poster party was conducted March 18 by the Del Webb Democrats.

They gathered to make posters to express their thoughts about the Trump Administration on

“They had a lot of fun getting creative and socializing over spilled paint and laughter,” said John Hawk, Safety Captain for the #NoKingsManteca  event.

A second poster party is set for today from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.  at a business close by to the intersection of Spreckels and Yosemite in Manteca. It’s a family location where adult beverages are also offered.

The exact location will be e-mailed to those who sign up at Mobilize.us using the “Nk3” filter to find the event, or go directly to https://www.mobilize.us/nokings/event/902095/ . “

“We expect a great turn out. Poster boards and markers will be provided for those who can’t bring their own. It's a great opportunity to socialize with like-minded people in an airconditioned space,” Hawk said.

Similar No Kings protests are being planned nationally including in Tracy and Modesto.

There are more than 3,000 protests planned across the United States.
