Ripon Christian FFA team repeats as state champs
RC ffa state champs
The Ripon Christian High FFA Floriculture team of Geneva Vandenberg, Laci Nydam, Gracelyn Dyk, and Lauren Mouw, and coached by Megan Dyk took home a state title at the California State Career Development Event held on May 2-3.

The Ripon Christian High Future Farmers of America’s Floriculture team is once again state champions.

The local chapter accomplished this at the recent California State Career Development Event finals held at Cal-Poly, San Luis Obispo, marking a second consecutive title.

“Back-to-back championships are not common – once a team of students win a state title they may no longer compete in that CDE.

“This group never competed in Floriculture at the state level,” said RC FFA coach Megan Dyk, who had three members of that group being in their first year of competition.

The Floriculture team consisted of freshman Geneva Vandenberg, senior Laci Nydam, freshman Gracelyn Dyk, and sophomore Lauren Mouw.

Gracelyn Dyk was also awarded a second-place high individual honors.

They’re bound for the 2025 National Finals in Indianapolis in October.

This season, the RC FFA also place third in the state with the Farm Power team consisting of E.J. Bruno, Sam Bruno, and Wes MacMillan, and fourth place finish with the Nursery / Landscape team of Sydney Vandenberg, Jeanne Oosterman, Cora VanderMeulen, and Cailyn Mouw.
