The Ripon Consolidated Fire District was faced once again with concurrent calls.
That’s in reference to multiple emergencies happening simultaneously.
Fire district crews on Wednesday responded to a vehicle fire and two emergencies occurring at the same time.
“After quickly extinguishing the car fire, E 2-1 and Medic 61 cleared the scene, and responded to one of the medical calls, leaving hose and equipment behind, which the on-duty battalion chief picked up,” said RCFD.
Support, simultaneously, came from Medic 80 from Escalon Community Ambulance and Engine 245 from the Manteca Fire Department – both were dispatch to the second medical emergency.
Situations like this highlight the increasing number of current calls that local firefighter and ambulance crews face coupled with the strain placed on available resources,
“Our personnel continue to work together, adapt, and respond quickly and safely as possible to serve our community,” RCFD said.
The local fire district held several town hall meetings during the past year in an effort to help inform the public of this growing issue and will continue to do more in the near future – the plan to help remedy concurrent calls includes the support of a Prop 218 assessment parcel tax.
RCFD is encouraging those within the 56-square-mile service area to attend the upcoming sessions, ask questions, and get involved.
