Ripon stresses need for city residents to address weed growth

The City of Ripon is encouraging residents to take care of the growth of weeds on their property.

“As we enter the spring where weeds are beginning to grow, property owners are reminded of their responsibility to maintain their properties in accordance with city standards,” said the City of Ripon via the Spring 2025 newsletter.

By that, property owners – in line with the Ripon Municipal Code – are required to manage the wild vegetation, preventing it from becoming a fire hazard along with posing a threat to public health, safety, and welfare.

The city noted that weed abatement is not a one-time task, mentioning that: “Many properties will need attention multiple times throughout the year to stay compliant.

Property owners are expected to either personally maintain their land or hire a private contractor to do so.”

As for those who fail to meet these guidelines?

“(They) may face enforcement actions,” the city said, requesting folks to work together to ensure that the neighborhoods remain safe and desirable.
