The City of Ripon continues to do its part when it comes to water conservation.

At the May 13 City Council meeting, Public Works Director James Pease said in his staff report that water usage for April was down 20 percent compared to the pre-drought 2013 water level figures.

On the other hand, those figures were up 22 percent during his comparison to last year’s numbers.

Ripon is currently on three-days a week watering schedule.

This includes all properties with “odd” numbered addresses within the city limits being able to water Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

Those within the city limits with an “even” ending numbered addresses to do their watering on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

No watering will be allowed between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.

No watering on Mondays.

No irrigation of ornamental landscapes will be allowed during and 48 hours following measurable rainfall.

It is also prohibited to use water to wash down driveways, sidewalks, patios, parking lots, aprons, and other exteriors surfaces except for sanitation, public health and safety, and fire protection purposes.
