Road closures for three major Manteca arterials
road work sign

A third major north-south Manteca arterial will be closed for a number of months to allow work for more new homes to be built.

The latest is South Main Street from Rina Drive to Sedan Avenue along with Raymus Parkway between Grand Lakes Lane and Hot Springs Drive.

The closure started Thursday. The streets will remain closed for five months.

The other closures are:

*Austin Road from Yosemite Avenue/East Highway to north of Graves Road. It will reopen in mid-December.

*Airport Way from south of Waterfall Way to 1,100 feet north of Yosemite Avenue. It will reopen in mid-October.

The Main Street work is connected with the latest phase of the 1,301-home Griffin Park project to accommodate what will be the southern most homes to be built in Manteca.

It involves utility work and sidewalks along with road widening and a median on South Main. A roundabout at Raymus Parkway and Soth Main will also be built.

The closure on Austin will allow the developer to install underground utilities connected with the  797-home Yosemite Square project as well as make improvements to Austin Road.

The final map for the first unit of the Yosemite Square project along Austin Road Was approved last month.

That means Lennar Homes, the developer of what will become the largest neighborhood ever built in Manteca east of Highway 99, can proceed with $34.7 million of improvements needed to create lots to build the first 311 homes.

The closure on Airport Way will allow a developer to conduct utility work and conduct road paving.

The utilities are in connection with the biggest neighborhood of duplex-style homes that Manteca has ever approved.

The project includes 114 duplexes and two traditional detached single-family homes to be built on 13.2 acres on what will become the northeast corner of Airport Way and Center Street.

The neighborhood is going immediately south of where the 99-home Yosemite Greens is located on the southeast corner of Airport Way and Crom Street along the western boundary of the municipal golf course.
