Corinna Guerrero, Jesse Guerrero, and Scott Thornton shared stories about their students at Thursday’s Manteca Transition Program & Young Adult Program graduation ceremony.
Six students made up the Class of 2025. Included were Isha Kumar, Itaty Oregel, John Ponce, Dominic Rasmy, Mathew Santos, and Mercedes Talamantes.
Talamantes, for starters, was known for her many talents, including the drawing of anime, which is a style of animation originated in Japan and characterized by colorful graphics and vibrant characters.
She does it all freestyle. “It’s not A.I.,” Talamantes said at the special morning event held at the Manteca Unified School District’s RESC Building.
Santos is a noted sports fan. His favorite pro football team is the Seattle Seahawks, and he enjoys rubbing that in to his teacher, Jesse Guerrero, who is Las Vegas Raiders fan.
Rasmy, who led in the Pledge of Allegiance, is known for his fascination and knowledge of the school buses, according to Thornton.
And Kumar is noted for her determination, kindness, and sassiness. “I’ve known Isha since she was a freshman at Manteca High,” said her teacher, Corinna Guerrero.
Principal Larry Machado, who has 35 years services at MUSD, is proud of those involved in his program. “There’s so much enthusiasm in the morning,” he said.
As for his graduating students, some will be going on to other programs such as OpenDoor Services.
