Workers got a break from the weather Tuesday as construction continues at Sam’s Club in Lathrop.

Lathrop continues to work towards becoming a destination for families, businesses, and visitors.

That’s according to the City of Lathrop’s Economic Development team members, in welcoming 2026.

“As we kick off a new year, we’re celebrating the incredible momentum building in Lathrop and looking ahead to even greater opportunities for our community,” the Economic Development team said on Monday.

This includes the much-anticipated opening of Sam’s Club, which could happen in late fall.

Once completed, Lathrop would offer up expanded retail options coupled with new job opportunities locally.

Located in the new Stanford Crossing development near Interstate 5, this will be the first-ever Sam’s Club in San Joaquin County.

AutoZone, Maverik, and Redwood Café & Event Center are the other projects listed as “under construction” on the recent Economic Development update report.

When it comes to healthcare, Sutter’s Health is investing more than $74 million in two new facilities – a multi-specialty medical center in River Islands and an urgent care clinic (Lathrop Marketplace) – in Lathrop.

Both are designed to serve local residents along with those in the greater SJC region.

“We’re also actively working to attract additional quality dining and entertainment experiences that will enhance the lifestyle and vibrancy of Lathrop,” the Economic Development team added.
