A flurry of social media postings making all kinds of statements that surfaced Wednesday about an East Union High employee that has been placed on administrative leave prompted the Manteca Unified School District to issue a statement.
“An employee has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation,” the statement reads. “We are unable to provide specific details about the investigation with respect to privacy rights.”
Continuing buzz about
possible pickleball courts
A consultant’s suggestion in the recently adopted update to the City of Manteca parks and recreation facilities master plan that the lighted youth baseball field at Marion Elliott Park on Powers Avenue could be converted to 12 pickleball courts and parking continues to be a big talking point among many.
One suggestion that has been repeatedly mentioned is placing pickleball courts at the lighted Morezone Field on Center Street and add parking between there and the tennis courts.
The consultant had suggested Morezone, given they determined it as well as the baseball field at Marion Elliott Park to be underutilized, would be a candidate for an events center and additional parking.
City staff noted Morezone field — in terms of reservations — gets more use than the Marion Elliott Field.
Another questioned whether it made sense to work with the school district to see if the baseball field could be adjusted — if needed — to fit into the sports and physical education for the adjoining Manteca High campus when it is not used by Little Leagues.
More than a new noted the 37 “baseball field” count in the masterplan inventory of existing facilities between the city and school campus reflects a large number of baseball fields that are simply backstops.
It also was noted the city itself has a growing Little Giants baseball program in addition to the three local Little leagues underscoring that baseball isn’t fading in popularity in Manteca.
