A 17-year-old juvenile was arrested in connection with attempting to steal cargo from a parked semi-truck and trailer, according the City of Lathrop Police Department.
The suspect, who was booked into San Joaquin County Juvenile Hall, was among several who had broken the trailer lock and seal, smashed the truck’s passenger window and left the doors open.
“Fortunately, nothing was taken from the trailer,” local police said via social media on Wednesday.
Inside the cargo was about $100,000 in household appliances.
Lathrop police said the other suspects fled in a white vehicle, but officers managed to recover burglary tools left behind, which was booked into as evidence.
The police department’s Investigations Division, meanwhile, is actively pursuing leads to identify the remaining suspects.
Lathrop police, in addition, praised a “strong community awareness” and quick response from officers in helping prevent a major theft.
