Tim Wheeler may be officially a former councilman.
But he’ll still be a part of Ripon.
At Tuesday’s City Council meeting, Wheeler took his final bow, making it known that his reason for stepping down from his elected post of the past year was due to moving his family out of state to Montana.
He and his wife, Nicole, are parents to three young children.
“We’ve moved for the sake of our kids,” said Wheeler, who operates a CPA office in downtown Ripon. “I’ll still be here – my office is here and I have a lot invested in the city.”
One of his latest business endeavors is the proposed Doak Boulevard plans consisting of elevations of buildings on a 4.80-acre site in an area zoned for Light Industrial – a Major Site Review on this project is scheduled to go before Ripon Planning Commission in December.
Wheeler, who had three years remaining on his term, thanked those who voted for him in the 2020 election.
He received plenty of thanks for the City of Ripon staff and his fellow council members.
“You made a family decision – family is always first,” Councilman Mike Restuccia said.
Councilman Leo Zuber always looked for forward to hearing feedback from Wheeler during the short stay in his elected post.
Mayor Daniel de Graaf and City Attorney Tom Terpstra thanked him for his service.
Added City Administrator Kevin Werner to Wheeler: “You will be missed.”
