Ray of Hope just received a generous donation from the Woodbridge Drama Group.

Those involved in this Del Webb endeavor helped raise $1,500 for the Ray of Hope Kids’ Cupboard from a dinner and Christmas play held on Dec. 12 and Dec. 14, respectively.

“This (donation) will help a lot,” said Laura Vieira-Saunders, who is the executive director for the non-profit organization that works with CPS and other agencies to provide the basic needs of children in crisis in the community. “It’s been a challenge to keep food stocked (for the Kids’ Cupboard) – we have so many children that we feed regularly.”

Ray of Hope is also conducting a Diapers & More Drive – diapers, wipes, formula, bottles, hygiene products and gently used clothing are being collected now and throughout spring for the Babies in Crisis Program.

“Our goal is to fill the Babies Corner in our Kids’ Cupboard,” Vieira-Saunders said not too long ago.

The Babies in Crisis Program assists infants and toddlers living in tough situations such as homelessness.

“The need for diapers is overwhelming and our diaper drives are the greatest blessing,” she said.

Vieira-Saunders added: “Babies who don’t have adequate diapers and hygiene resources are much more at risk at having rashes, urinary tract infections, kidney infections and more.”

She’s encouraging businesses, churches, families and groups to step up and jump on board in collecting items for this cause.

Ray of Hope is located at 113 W. Yosemite Ave.
