Many of the pieces are now in place in the renovation project of the Ripon Senior Center.
This includes the metal pergola shade structure and the concrete padding for the 1,300-square-foot outdoor seating area at the City of Ripon facility located at 433 S. Wilma Ave.
The focus of the Senior Center Rehabilitation Project is to create “an outdoor space that enhances accessibility, comfort, and functionality for one of the City’s most valued facilities,” Ripon officials recently said.
The project was awarded to Estate Design & Construction, Inc. back in November 2024.
Besides the new shaded area, the Ripon Senior Center will also get new exterior doors, metal siding, refreshed landscaping, and concrete walkways leading to and around the building.
The $384,678 project – funded via a Community Development Block Grant – is nearing completion.
Once completed, the renovations will allow seniors – residents age 50 and older – with more opportunities to enjoy outdoor programs and community events in a safe and accessible environment.
Open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Ripon Senior Center offers a variety of programs and meal services.
Weekly activities include aerobics, billiards, chair yoga, painting, and line dancing, to name a few.
There’s also a free mobile farmer’s market and fellowship potluck held once each month.
