Efforts on the Lathrop Gateway Arches appear to be nearing the finish line.
Workers recently finished up one of the two archways – notably, 5th Street and Lathrop Road – with the other on the opposite side of 5th Street facing Louise Avenue, as of Thursday, nearing completion.
Frontline General Engineering Construction was awarded the Historic Lathrop Beautification Project back in September.
Construction consisted of two gateway arches along with a truss structural system, electrical components, removing and replacing of sidewalk, doing the landscape, and installing a new irrigation system.
Much of the work was done in the ensuing months, with the crew having to wait for the arrival of certain materials such as the lighting and letterings with the City of Lathrop logo to finally complete the project.
Funding for the Historic Lathrop Beautification Project was about $1.3 million, according to the Lathrop City Council meeting staff report, and was made possible by Measure C and CIP Project money.
The project incorporated two roadway arches along 5th Street near the Lathrop Road and Louise Avenue intersections, reading “Historic Lathrop.”
