The body of a 35-year-old Manteca man who had reportedly committed suicide was discovered in the south side of the Walmart parking lot near the Highway 120 Bypass shortly after 6 p.m. Saturday by a passerby, according to Manteca Police Sgt. Rob Armosino.

The deceased had reportedly left for work from his residence in the northeast section of the community.  His wife had called police to report him missing, asking that they search for him after she had called his workplace to determine he had not arrived for work.

Sgt. Armosino said officers arrived on the scene and located the missing man’s body in his vehicle, reporting there was no sign of foul play and determining that he had taken his own life.  A firearm had not been used in the death, they noted.
