The Manteca Dolphins Swim Team is hoping to surpass the 215 members it enjoyed last year in the tryouts set for Saturday, March 16, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the East Union High School pool.

Student swimmers as young as 4 years old with an age limit of 18 are encouraged to attend the tryouts next weekend.

Competition will begin with a Memorial Day weekend invitational in Tracy with competitive meets continuing on every weekend until July 14.  The invitationals draw upwards of 800 swimmers, often reaching as many as 1,000 while local meets include just a few area teams.

The Dolphins are affiliated with the Manteca Parks and Recreation Department attracting youth from the Manteca and Lathrop communities.

Swimmers are urged to be up and going at 4 a.m. on the days of their meets to give them time to reach the locations of their daylong invitationals that begin at 8 a.m.  They have to be at the pool by 6 a.m. to give them time for warm up laps.
