A Manteca Police officer was rear ended in his patrol car on the Highway 120 Bypass east of Union Road Wednesday at 10:30 p.m.

The accident sent officer Benjamin Cromwell to San Joaquin Hospital by ambulance for non-life threatening injuries, according to the CHP.

Cromwell was traveling westbound on the freeway in his patrol car when a 2003 Chevrolet pickup truck, driven by Ryan Elliott, 24, of Lathrop collided with the rear of his unit.

Cromwell was treated and released for his injuries and the Lathrop motorist was reportedly uninjured. Both vehicles received only minor damage, according to a CHP spokesman.
