Manteca shifts garbage pick up during holidays
Placeholder Image

There is no garbage collection in Manteca on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

That means everyone except those who put out their garbage form pick up on Mondays and Tuesdays will have a different day for refuse collection for the next two weeks.

That means:

•If Wednesday is your normal collection day, your garbage will be collected Thursday.

•If Thursday is your normal collection day, your garbage will be collected Friday.

•If Friday is your normal collection day, your garbage will be collected Saturday.

All collections will go back to the normal sch3eudle beginning the week of Monday, Jan. 6.

Christmas tree pick up will start Monday, Dec. 30, and run through Friday, Dec. 10 with collection days mirroring the day that your garbage is collected.

Trees need to be put at curbside with all lights, ornaments, and tinsel removed. Natural green or flocked trees will be collected. Trees put out after Jan. 10 will be charged a disposal fee.

If you are looking to get rid of batteries or E-waste they can be taken to the solid waste office Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. for recycling.

The City of Manteca’s annual leaf collection program continues through mid-January.

The City’s street sweepers are collecting the leaves on regular street sweeping days, which occur every other week in residential areas.  Residents can determine which day their area is swept by accessing the map located in our web page: http://www.ci.manteca.ca.us/streets/sweep.

All residents who wish to participate are requested to place leaves only in loose piles in the street. Leaves should be at least one foot out from the curb gutter. Make sure that leaves do not clog the gutter and block the flow of rainwater. Leaves bagged in plastic will not be picked up.

Residents with smaller quantities of leaves are encouraged to place the leaves in their yard waste (green) Toter for collection.

All other garden trimmings such as grass clippings and tree prunings are not included in the leaf collection program. Place these items in the yard waste collection bin (green Toter) or compost them in your own backyard.

Anyone with questions should contact Facilities Maintenance Superintendent Dave Frank at (209) 456-8476 or by using the “Contact Us” button on the top of the City’s home page (www.ci.manteca.ca.us) and selecting the “Other (Streets)” topic.
