Manteca Youth Focus is gearing up for the 2013 scholarship competition.

The tech rehearsal for the upcoming competition is Saturday, March 2, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Calvary Community Church.

Then on Sunday, March 3, the Manteca Youth Focus Leadership Dinner takes place from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Manteca Senior Center, 295 Cherry Lane.

The event honors the accomplishments of the 2012 scholarship recipients. Elected officials and other guests will be on hand to pay tribute to all 11 of titleholders and hear the final farewell remarks of Miss Manteca Myklyn Balmut, Manteca City Ambassador Taylor Hasal, Miss Teen Manteca Hannah Goe and Miss Young Manteca Allison Nussbaumer.

The first competition is Friday, March 8, starting at 6:30 p.m. at Calvary Community Church. It is the final showcase for ages 16 to 20 who will participate in the speech, stage arts and impromptu phases of competition. They will be awarding scholarships and selecting the new Miss Manteca and Manteca City Ambassador along with alternate titles representing the Pumpkin Fair and Winter Fest.

The theme is “Hooray for Hollywood” and will be a tribute to the glamorous golden age of cinema. The show features alumni performances by Matt Vaughan, Cheyenne Milligan and a whole cast of dancers. Additionally there is a special guest performance by “Marilyn Monroe” - who is Kelly Drinkward, a professional Marilyn impersonator.

Manteca Youth Focus Teen and Young Manteca Scholarship Competitions take place on Saturday, March 9, at 11 a.m. at Calvary Community Church.

This is the final showcase for two age divisions combined into one show. Ages 13 to 15 are competing for Miss Teen Manteca and Teen Manteca City Ambassador. Ages 10 to 12 are competing for Miss Young Manteca and Young Manteca City Ambassador. We also offer alternate titles in both these divisions as well.

The theme is the same however they are different featured performers including California State Junior Ambassadress Juliet Johnson.

Then on Sunday, March 10, at 3 p.m. in the Manteca Library McFall Room is the Manteca Youth Focus Scholarship Coronation Reception.
