Military Murals Set for Downtown

The east side of the Bed Quarters building in downtown Manteca will see the first military murals in the community at Yosemite Avenue and Main Street, according to Manteca Mural Society spokesman Norman Knodt.

The dedication of the site is scheduled for November 11 at 1:30 p.m. and will first honor the veterans of World War II, followed by the Korean Conflict and Vietnam.

Knodt said the individual murals are to be installed in sections that will allow their movement in the future should a building be erected on the corner parking lot.

The side wall of what was Turner Hardware during World War II once displayed the names of all Manteca area service men and women taking part in the conflict.
