MUSD open enrollment starts Jan. 7

Parents whose children are attending schools in Manteca Unified and would like to transfer them to another campus in the district will have the opportunity to do just that from January 7 through Jan 31, 2014.

Open enrollment is open to all students from grades one through 12 in all of the school district’s five comprehensive high schools and 20 elementary schools.

This intra-district open enrollment occurs every year during this period. All forms must be completed and submitted by the close of school office hours on Friday, January 31. The requests must be filed at the student’s “school of residence.”

If the application is approved, parents or guardians of the transferred students must accept responsibility for the children’s transportation to and from the school requested. They must also understand that if the selected school’s enrollment is impacted and does not have room for any transfers, their children may be referred back to their old school – “school of residence” – at the start of the school year.

For high school students in open enrollment, approval of their transfer request does not guarantee their eligibility for athletic programs at the school where they are requesting to go. Transferring student athletes must also be aware that the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section has eligibility requirements for transfer students and must consult the CIF Bylaws at www.cifsjs.org for more information.
