Class officers at Stella Brockman School and a class friend locked hands in the school’s courtyard as they collected themselves for promotion ceremonies Wednesday evening.
Stella Brockman Class President Isabella Velasquez was there with her vice president David Martin, Sofia Maxey and class secretary Phuong Nguyen.
Velasquez thanked teachers for seeing the potential in their students.
“Thank you for giving us the knowledge to go to high school,” she said “My mother always told me not to settle for less and always push and be extraordinary for everybody has the ability to succeed.  Be extraordinary, be the best you can be,” she told her fellow classmates.
Special Awards for the class went to nine students.
The first was the Stella Brockman Award that went to Phuong Nguyen, with the Scholar-Athlete Award being given to Michael Garcia and he Overall Character Award going to Quentin Banks.  Individual character awards were presented to Emma Johnson, Ellie Kim, Allison Croyle, Daniel Muratalla, Sofia Maxey and Daniel Scarborough.
