This year’s event, the biggest annual fund-raiser for the school, will be held Nov. 7 from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

ESCALON — The Oak Valley Art Society’s 2009 Fall Art show will be held the weekend of Oct. 17-18 at the Escalon Library, 1540 Second Street.

The event on Saturday will begin at noon and end at 5 p.m. On Sunday, guests will be welcome from noon until 2 p.m. followed by an hour-long reception for the artists from 2 to 3 p.m.

Several members of the Oak Valley Art society are artists from Manteca.

The monthly meeting of the local Ripon Senior Fellowship Group will be held this Monday, Sept. 28, at 6 p.m. at the Ripon Senior Center, 433 S. Wilma Ave.

Attendees are asked to bring their own table service (utensils) and a good-sized portion of salad, main dish or dessert.

This month’s program will feature Chuck Hoag doing his magic tricks. The program gets underway at 7 p.m.

The Manteca Rainbow Girls Spaghetti Dinner takes place Saturday, Sept. 26, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Masonic Hall on Powers Avenue near North Street.

The cost is $5 per person

The Manteca Branch Library will present a special Book Bonanza at 4 p.m. today.

During this time, the Manteca Storytime Lady will read stories that will unleash your imagination, and inspire a love of reading.
There will be games and crafts.

In addition, Las Lupitas, a local Ballet Folklorico group, is on schedule for a special performance.

“This is a wonderful time for families with children of all ages to celebrate literacy,” said Ruthanne Bassett, library assistant at the Manteca branch located at 320 W. Center St.

Books will be on display, and staff will be available to answer questions.

This free program is provided through the generosity of the Friends of the Manteca Library.
