Community choir rehearsals start

The Manteca Community Choir will rehearse for this year’s Christmas cantata every Sunday evening in November at 7  p.m. at the Manteca Presbyterian Church on North and Main.  

Adults, teenagers and children are invited to participate in this cantata.  “Christmas Fantasia” will be performed on Dec. 13 at 7 p.m. and is free to the public.  Contact Anne Talcott at 823-0054 for more information

Baby Buff cheer event on Nov. 6

Have you ever wanted to cheer at a high school football game? This is a great opportunity for youth between the ages of 4 and 14. Manteca High School cheerleaders are conducting their annual Baby Buff fundraiser during the varsity football game on Friday, Nov. 6.

Practices will be held on Nov. 4 and 5, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The cost is $35, pre-registered, and $40 at the door. Cost includes T-shirt, bow, and clinic. Moose Lodge holiday benefit

The Manteca Moose Lodge will kick off the holiday season by hosting a benefit prime rib dinner along with the annual Toys for Tots on Saturday, December 19.

The U.S. Marines will once again be on hand for the toy drive with the local Moose Lodge No. 1815, 1185 N. Main Street, serving as the dropping point every afternoon until Dec. 23.

Cost for the dinner is $15; included will be music by Tim Wilson (Tim2 DJ Service.)

The lodge is looking to put smiles on youngsters with these donations. This could also include cash contributions for those preferring to have members do their Christmas shopping for kids in need. In addition the Manteca Moose Lodge is accepting coats, blankets, and canned food to help the less fortunate during the holiday.

New Haven Community Club rib dinner Nov. 7

New Haven School Community Club is having their annual Rib Dinner & Dance on Saturday, Nov. 7, at the MRPS Hall, 133 N. Grant St. in Manteca.

Dinner consists of all-you-can-eat ribs by Fagundes, baked potato, salad, bread and wine. There will also be a raffle plus silent and live auctions. No host cocktails are from 6 to 7 p.m. with dinner at 7 p.m.; and dancing from 9 p.m. to midnight.  Tickets are $30 per person (21 and older only) and are available at the school office at 14600 S. Austin Road or by calling Cyndi Ward at 823-0502.

FESM steak & oyster dinner

The FESM Steak and Oyster dinner is set for Saturday, Nov. 7, at the FESM Hall at 240 N. Main St.

No host cocktails are at 6 p.m., dinner at 7 p.m. and dancing from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. with the music provided by Manuel Jacinto.  Tickets are $30 per adult and $15 for children ages 6-12.  Those interested can call Carlos & Melissa at 825-5089 or Danny

Artist Guild show & sale on Sunday

The eighth annual Manteca Artist Guild show and sale will be held Sunday, Nov. 1, from noon to 4 p.m. at Chez Shari on the second floor of the Manteca Golf Course clubhouse. Admission is free.

Featured will be the original creations of various artists in the area including oils, pastels, watercolors and other media. Most of these will be on sale. Other attractions will include raffle prizes and other giveaways
