STOCKTON – It came down to the final two matches Saturday between Hilmar and Ripon for first place in the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Division V Team Duals Championships. The Yellowjackets, Trans-Valley League rival to the Indians, took those final two bouts and with it the coveted SJS blue banner at Lincoln High.
“We knew that the last time we beat them that the score (48-27) looked lopsided,” Ripon coach Glen White said. “We had some matches that went our way then that we knew were kind of toss-ups and today they just didn’t go our way.
“I am proud of these kids. It is a good team, they wrestle hard, have a lot of fun and go out there and give it everything they have. That’s all you can ask.”
Owen Gollinger (285 pounds) gave the Indians a two-point lead going into those last two matches with a second-round pin over Clay Harden.
“I got him down and I got around him,” Gollinger said. “So I thought I would try to get him on his back.
“I got the double and flipped him over and figured if I didn’t get him then I didn’t know if I would get another chance.”
Donny Fontillas (126) got the day off on the right foot for Ripon with a first-round pin over Wyatt Casteo in the first bout of the contest.
“I was just blessed to get the opportunity to wrestle today,” Fontillas said. “It gave me some confidence to go onto the post season and I’m glad I have the life I do.”
The Indians’ Diego Moreno (160) had beat Wyatt Amaral earlier this season, but on Saturday Moreno rolled to a second-round pin.
“It was phenomenal,” Moreno said. “I didn’t pin him last time because I was so tired and to come out with the pin this time was awesome.” 
Anthony Latno (138) posted a 15-0 technical fall for Ripon and teammate Greg Clark (152) won a 7-5 decision.
Ripon 60, Summerville 21
The Indians pinned their way to the opening-round win with all of their wins by fall.
Fontillas (132), Moreno (160), Latno (128) and Jordan Campa (113) all had first-round pins for Ripon. Steven Deulus (170) got his pin in the second round with Brandon Rosa (182) and Jacob Rhodes (195) picking up third-round pins.

Girls South Regional Championship
MODESTO – Ripon advanced three girls to the Masters championships with medal finishes on Saturday at Enochs High.
Senior Victoria White (162 pounds) took first place with a pin in the championship bout and Alayna  Swilley (113) won her gold medal with a 5-1 decision.
Andria Martin (123) battled through a knee injury to go 4-2 in the two-day tournament and finish fifth.
