RIPON – Larry Keethe helped make Ripon High into a perennial prep volleyball powerhouse.
After six successful seasons, he stepped down as the Indians coach in December.
For his accomplishments, Keethe will be recognized at tonight’s Ripon City Council meeting.
The open session begins at 7 p.m. at Ripon City Hall, 259 N. Wilma St.
Mayor Elden “Red” Nutt and his fellow elected officials are scheduled to honor Keethe and the two championship volleyball squads – Ripon High and Ripon Christian – with proclamations for their recent successes.
The Indians and Knights both had seasons highlighted by section championships.
Keethe led Ripon High to five straight Trans Valley League titles, compiling an 82-4 TVL record, 210-49 overall.
In other agenda items:
•City Council and the Ripon Redevelopment Agency will seek a loan from the agency to the City of Ripon to help develop the Mistlin Sports Complex softball diamonds.
•Council could authorize Mayor Nutt to sign the agreement with Forsgren and Associate to prepare a grant application for the construction of a pipeline, connecting Ripon to the South San Joaquin Irrigation District’s surface water pipeline.
•A public hearing on fund allocations (Community development block grant and home programs) will be held to give those with an opportunity to respond to recommendations.
