Recent enrollment figures at Ripon Unified were reportedly a mixed blessing.

At last week’s school board meeting, Kathy Coleman, who is the district’s director of curriculum and categorical programs, reported that, according to the November’s data, the numbers were down 25 students overall compared to that of same attendance period of year ago.

At the same time, RUSD was up 14 students – based on the month to month figures – going from 2,992 in October to the recent 3,006 students.

A year ago at this time RUSD had a total enrollment of 3,031.

The numbers at Ripona (392), Weston (429), and the Ripon Continuation High School (19) remained unchanged during the past two months.

Ripon High, however, dipped from 866 students to the recent 853 during the span.

Independent studies showed an increase, jumping from nine students to 17.

However, the most significant increase took place at Park View, which went from 399 students of two months ago to the recent 423.

Colony Oak and Ripon Elementary both experienced minor decreases in enrollment.

Colony Oak went from 434 students to 432 while Ripon Elementary had 444 in the second month of the RUSD calendar year, dipping to 441.
