Ripon getting new baseball scoreboard

A new scoreboard awaits the Ripon High baseball program.
On Monday, the Ripon Unified school board is expected to take a step forward by awarding the lowest bid for the project made possible via donations.
Trustees, in this case, could give that nod to JHK Construction, Inc.  The Escalon firm, if approved, would handle the installation of the scoreboard.
Action on this and more will take place at the 7 p.m. open session inside the Council Chambers, 259 N. Wilma Ave.
The bid here came in at $68,500. But district officials are indicating up to $20,000 in additional cost, including an inspection of record and testing lab as required by the Division of  the State Architect.
A contingent budget of $5,000 would be established to handle any unforeseen costs such as damage to the turf, sprinklers, water pipes, etc.
The hope is for the scoreboard to be completed in time for the upcoming baseball season. But all that could depend on board approval and the predicted upcoming weather patterns cooperating for the start of the season.
RHS also acknowledged some of the donors to the cause, recognizing Degraff Construction, Brocchini Farms, the Ripon High Boosters, the Ripon Quarterback Club, and South San Joaquin Irrigation District, among others, for their generosity.
Other agenda items include:
uThe board recognizing to Andrew Rivera of Ripon Elementary School.
uTrustees providing their OK on a Memorandum of Understanding involving the San Joaquin County Office of Education’s Artists in Schools and Ripon Elementary of RUSD.
uThey’re also recognizing the Smarter Balanced Perfect Score Students.
