Kathy Ruble is the Cal-HOSA Administrator of the Year.
HOSA, formerly known as Health Occupations Students of America, is a national career and technical student organization that includes future health professionals.
At the recent Cal-HOSA State Leadership Conference, Ruble, who is Manteca Unified Director of Career and Technical Education / Science Technology Engineering Math, was nominated by the Manteca High and Weston Ranch High HOSA chapters for her support of the program.
“It was very much a surprise,” said Ruble, who wasn’t readily available at the state leadership conference held at the Anaheim Marriott.
Instead, Cheryl Behler, advisor for the MHS HOSA, accepted the award on her behalf.
“Kathy was too busy running HOSA headquarters,” Behler said.
Some 66 students from MHS and Weston Ranch were part of the 3,600 that took part in the Cal-HOSA event held earlier this month.
The Weston Ranch group was led by advisor Tamara Basepayne.
Behler noted that her students attended numerous sessions, including Stop the Bleed, Single Knot Suturing, Texting and Driving, and Hands and Knee Anatomy, to name a few.
Her group was also in charge of running an entire competition, from beginning to end, “helping the competitive event run smoothly,” said Behler.
