A San Jose woman was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after glancing off a parked SUV and crashing into the newspaper racks near the front door of Miner Mart Liquors at about 5 p.m. Sunday.
Jacqui L. East House was arrested and transported to the Manteca city jail after being given an extensive field sobriety test showing she was above the legal alcohol limit.
A clerk said that not five minutes before the crash she had given a customer change for a dollar so that he could purchase a paper from one of the stands.
The woman had crashed into a parked 2007 Honda Pilot, damaging its left front, prior to hitting the newspaper racks. The driver’s air bag had deployed on the BMW but there were no reports of any injuries.
