Where else do you celebrate the “Best of Manteca” except in the business that literally put the Mann-teee -kaa! in Manteca – Manteca Trailer & RV.

The festivities honoring the winners takes place the evening of Friday, May 15, in the main showroom of the business that the late Bobby Davis built with his trademark commercials of him imploring people to come to “Maan – teee- kaa!” to buy their next RV while he tipped his cigar. It was the staying power of Davis’ image and his trademark line that created a marketing icon built on sound business practices and excellent customer service that the Best of Manteca effort staged by the Manteca Convention Visitors Bureau is trying to promote.

This year’s format is a bit different than in past years. The winners have been notified so they know in advance that they are the recipients of the top votes in their particular category among those who participated in the on-line balloting that ended Friday.

The process – which is essentially a people’s choice vote – has helped recipients in the past who have noticed an increase in business. Among those who have said the “Best of Manteca” tag is an effective grabber of the attention of potential consumers is Chris Kohl of Precision Automotive. His business again was voted Best in Manteca for auto repair.

A ticket to the reception that includes light food and refreshments is $25.

The celebration will have a circus theme that will include jugglers, stilt walkers, clowns, and face painting. Entertainment will also be provided by the Cheyenne Mulligan and Matt Vaughn, selected as Manteca’s best female singer and best male singer respectively.

The winners of the Best of Manteca receive decals they can display in their businesses. They also are listed in various CVB publications including the visitors guide as wile as posted on the CVB website accessed by visitors and tourists.

For more information call the CVB at 823-7229.
