Prior to coming to the St. Anthony Parish in 2002, Sister Ann Venita Britto taught kindergarten at St. George’s School.

Some from the south Stockton parish continue to attend her many functions, including Juana Bacay, Ellen Carter, and Barbara Jones.

They were at Wednesday’s special Thanksgiving luncheon open to all seniors regardless of their religious affiliations. Bacay, Carter, and Jones enjoyed a hot meal featuring turkey with mashed potatoes and gravy served up with cranberry.

“We always enjoy being there for Sister Ann,” said Bacay, who is a long-time Stockton resident.

The function was made possible by Sister Ann and her Ministry of Caring. They put together all of the Thanksgiving-themed center pieces along with the goody bags. Donations made possible the door prizes that were distributed via drawing.

The live entertainment was provided by JRP & Company. The local band also supported the efforts of William, a consumer from Valley CAPS. Thanks to some encouragement from Sister Ann, he got up and performed one song.

Besides Valley CAPS, folks from St. Jude’s Care Center, the Legion of Mary, the Commons, Prestige, and Merrill Gardens attended the luncheon.

Eighth-grade students from nearby St. Anthony’s School assisted as food servers while also bussing tables.
