NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (AP) — An Orange County beach is the only one in California to get a “superstar” rating from the Natural Resources Defense Council in its annual water quality report card. The NRDC says 38th Street beach in Newport Beach didn’t exceed bacteria levels a single time over the course of 50 tests.  The Orange County Register reports the nonprofit released its 24th annual beach ranking on Wednesday.
