SAN JOSE . (AP) — A man and woman are facing charges after police say they tried to run over an officer and damaged a police car.

The San Jose Mercury News reports that San Jose police say an officer on foot tried to stop a car Sunday night. The vehicle did not stop and instead drove toward the officer, forcing him to get out of the way.

Officers lost sight of the vehicle. When the suspects were found again, the driver rammed a police car that was closing in before abandoning their vehicle and fleeing on foot.

A police dog found the suspects about three hours later. They were both arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer, and were also wanted on felony warrants.
