STOCKTON — StocktonCon is back.
The two-day event is this weekend – Saturday and Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. – at the Stockton Arena.
Presented by Utility Telecom, this is sixth year for StocktonCon, which had its modest beginnings as a one-day event held at the University of the Pacific.
But thanks to overwhelming fan support, StocktonCon has grown to one of the pop culture events on the West Coast, according to organizer Mike Millerick.
Thousands are expected to converge at the arena – some dressed in costume of their favorite comic book or action hero or villian, and anime character – to catch the various artists or headlining guests.
Included will be Sons of Anarchy star Ryan Hurst, voice actor Maurice LaMarche (Futurama, Rick & Morty), Tim Rose (Admiral Ackbar) of Star Wars, original Power Ranger Walter Jones, WWE legend Rey Mysterio, Shane ‘Hurricane’ Helms and Melina Perez, to name a few.
Mike Mayhew (Star Wars), Brian Stelfreeze (Black Panther) and Paoloa Rivera (Daredevil) are among the comic book artists scheduled to appear.
More than 200 exhibitors and artists will be featured at this year’s StocktonCon.
Another featured attraction will be the Chase Chevrolet Costume Contest at 5 p.m. Saturday next door in the University Plaza Waterfront Hotel ballroom.
Presale tickets are still available ($18 for a two-day pass, $13 for one day).
On the day of the event, cost is $22 for two days and $15 for one day.
Tickets are available at http://ticketmaster.com.
A portion of the proceeds from StocktonCon go directly to United Way and St. Mary’s Dining Room.
