Swiss Echoes dance, concert Saturday

RIPON - The San Joaquin Valley “Swiss Echoes” will perform their Fall Concert and Dance Saturday, Nov. 7, at the San Joaquin Valley Swiss Club hall at East Main Street and Manley Road.

The 35-member Swiss Echoes Choir dressed in traditional Swiss attire will be performing songs and yodels from their native homeland, Switzerland, under the direction of Agnes Litfin Olsted of Stockton and accompanied on piano by Denni Baumgarner of Merced. Members come from surrounding areas of Brentwood, Elk Grove, Escalon, French Camp, Galt, Oakdale, Manteca, Modesto, Ripon, Stockton, Sacramento, Turlock and Delhi.

Special guest performers will be the Turlock Steppin Pards, a square dance group from Turlock. Also performing on the alphorn will be Robert Fox of Brentwood. Several members will be doing duet and solo yodels within the mixed chorus songs.

The Ripon concert program will begin promptly at 7:30 p.m. The Ed Inderbitzin Orchestra will be playing Swiss tunes for your dancing pleasure right after the concert.

Presale concert and dance tickets may be purchased for $7 ($9 at the door.) Children under 16 are admitted free. Advance tickets are available from any Swiss Echoes member or you may call Heidi Betschart, Modesto, 531-2577 or Marie Schallberger, Lodi, 369-2546.

The San Joaquin Valley Swiss Club will be serving a delicious wurst medley (variety of sausages) and sauerkraut dinner before th concert from 6 to 7 p.m. Presale only dinner tickets are $10. Buy your tickets early as there is limited seating.
