Scott “Q” Marcus made a life-changing decision on his 39th birthday in 1993.

He faced financial ruin, a failing marriage, and was suffering from back aches and chest pains. That prompted him to lose 70 pounds over the next 364 days.

It wasn’t the first time for him to drop weight. By his own estimation, he has lost 2,327 pounds if all of the weight he lost and then regained and lost again since childhood was added up.

But the last time was different. He stuck with a healthier lifestyle.

His experiences spurred his transformation into what he calls a “THINspiratuoinal” speaker.

Marcus is one of the two keynote speakers for the 2011 Manteca Women’s Connection taking place Feb. 25. His talk is entitled “Striving for Imperfection.”

The other keynote speaker is Linda Kay who will talk on “Cake for Breakfast, Pajamas in the Afternoon: The Journey is Everything.”

There will be a trade show, 10 breakout sessions, and a fashion show.

Marcus was a disc jockey, talk show host and had various other radio and TV station roles ranging from sales manager and general manager to station manager prior to becoming an inspirational speaker.

Tickets are $50 apiece. They are available from the Manteca Visitors Center at 1420 Grove Ave. in the Bass Pro Shopping Center near the bell tower and water feature.
