LATHROP – There are a few days left to purchase a ticket for the car raffle to benefit the American Cancer Society Lathrop Relay for Life.

And there are a few more tickets left to sell at $20 apiece. The prize, a white 2004 Ford Mustang GT Deluxe Coupe 40th Anniversary Edition with black racing stripes and automatic V8, is donated by Rhonda and Steve Ramsey of USA Motors in Lathrop. The car also has power steering and a back spoiler plus a leather interior.

Jeryl Weiler, chairwoman of the 2013 Lathrop Relay for Life, said there are still about 200 tickets left of the 500 that are being sold.

“Last year, we sold all 500 tickets,” she said, adding, they are hoping to raise $10,000 for the Relay, which was the amount that was donated to the annual event from the car-drawing proceeds.

Tickets can be purchased at the USA Motors dealership located on Harlan Road just north of West Louise Avenue and on the east side of the Interstate 5 northbound onramp. They are also available at the new USA Motors Service Center at 1683 W. Louise Avenue (between Union Pacific Railroad and McKinley Avenue) – telephone (209) 983-8888 – where the drawing will be held on Wednesday, July 17, or by calling Weiler at (209) 679-2540.

The drawing will be held in conjunction with USA Motors’ annual mixer and customer appreciation night. Free hot dogs and entertainment by the Mike Torres Band of Lathrop will be on tap during the evening gathering which will be held from 5:30 to 8 p.m.

The Lathrop Relay for Life will be held Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 10 and 11, at the Manuel Valverde Park on Fifth Street in Historic Old Town Lathrop, just north of Lathrop Elementary School.
