Christmas trees are being sold as a fund raiser by the Manteca High School Buffaloes Athletic Boosters all day Saturday at the northwest corner of the campus.
MHS varsity football team members unloaded 120 trees from a semi-trailer that drove to Manteca with the trees on the corner of Yosemite and Sherman avenues. The tree effort freed the students from their weight lifting class to move the bundled evergreen trees.
Athletic director Dave Smith the trees were offered at fund raiser pricing from Holiday Specialty in Woodburn Oregon located south of Portland. Many of the trees have already been pre-sold, however others will be available to the public.
Some two dozen students are volunteering their time to make the project a success. The Noble and Douglas fir trees range in size from five to 9 feet tall with price tags of $30 to $84 for the tallest.
