Two die on streets of Manteca

Two men lost their lives within 15 minutes of each other Wednesday night.One was killed by a train at the Main Street crossing and the other died in a head-on collision on Woodward Avenue.Manteca Police said Jeremy Walker, 34, of Ripon, was reported to have walked into the middle of a Union Pacific train at 10:15 p.m. Firefighters found his body along the north side of the tracks between South Main Street and Yosemite Avenue. The train crew attempted to brake the train but to no avail. It was about 15 minutes later when emergency dispatchers received a 911 call about a head-on crash on Woodward Avenue near where it intersects with South McKinley Avenue in southwest Manteca.A westbound 2000 vintage GMC Yukon and an eastbound ‘80s Toyota collided passing side by side in a fatal collision with the driver and passenger of the Toyota being extricated by firefighters.
