Almajane (AJ) Manns McDonnell, 76, of Manteca, California, passed away September 22, 2011 at home.  She was born July 20, 1935 in Hammond, Indiana.  She grew up in Duquesne, Pennsylvania and Fontana, California.  Upon graduation from Chaffey High School she attended the California School of Nursing in Los Angeles, CA.  AJ was a registered nurse for 34 years.

AJ was a member of United Lutheran Church, active in the food pantry, rose garden, and quilters group.  She immensely enjoyed the activities and companionship of her church family.    She enjoyed camping in Lake Tahoe and La Porte, California with family and friends.  Sitting in her camp chair reading a good book or doing a crossword was time well spent.

AJ  is survived by her sister, Vincie Harmon of Fresno, children Ken McDonnell of Modesto, Janet McDonnell of South Lake Tahoe and Rich McDonnell of Manteca.    She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Richard W. McDonnell, her parents Vince and Ruth Manns, and her sister, Vivian Null.

AJ’s memorial service will be Friday, September 30th at 1:00pm at United Lutheran Church, 649 Northgate Dr, Manteca.
